Your contacts stay on your Mac
Kin is a front-end for the address book already on your computer, the same one Apple's Contacts app uses. When you grant access, you are authorizing only the app running on your own Mac to display and edit your contact cards. Nothing is ever transmitted anywhere. The app contains no networking code, no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party services of any kind.
Everything the app stores, it stores locally
Your preferences and a speed-up cache of your address book live in files on your Mac, readable only by you. Deleting the app deletes them. Contact edits sync to your other devices only through Apple's own iCloud contact syncing, under your iCloud account and Apple's privacy terms. Kin never sees or touches that traffic.
Private notes are private to this app
Notes you write inside Kin are stored by the app on your Mac only. They are not written into the system contacts database, they are not part of your iCloud contact sync, and they never leave your computer.
No one else can see your contacts, including us
We have no way to access, receive, or view anything in your address book.
Changes and questions
If this policy ever changes, the change will be posted at this address before it takes effect. Questions are welcome at [email protected].
